Concrete outdoor collection
Francesconi

Let’s be concrete.

One of the main issues a lighting designer who approach outdoor products faces is durability. If we can allow ourselves to design fancy glass globes with thin frames nobody will touch once positioned in our safe homes, outdoor solutions must be just stiff and bold, capable of sustaining the worst weather as well as static stress.

When asked by Francesconi to design a collection of lamps suitable for outdoor, I immediately turned to concrete. Apart from the fact it’s the legit material for architecture, it allows great durability and, most of all, it can be cold-cast to achieve complex shapes with nice details.

As soon as a first proposal was approved and advanced engineering began, we started working on other typologies, and a wall extension came consequently.
