From plumbing to lighting
Everything started researching on a material called “vulcanized fiber”, which is a special natural material treated and laminated so you can obtain sheets with different thickness, generally used by plumbers as a gasket between pipings. The main feature of this material is that when it’s dry, it’s quite stiff and rigid, like a plastic. But the magic is that when you soak it in water, it becomes flexible and malleable like leather. In this state, you can bend it and shape it as desired: once it dries out, the material becomes stiff again. This allowed me to create different objects (lamps, stools and coffe tables) that compound the collection, that I called Bundled since the stool, which is the first object I designed, is wrapped around a mold with this leather-like sheet.
